The period begins upon receipt of this notice in writing. If you are unable to return or surrender the performance received and any benefits derived therefrom (e.g. benefits of use), or if you are only able to do so in part or in a deteriorated condition, you must compensate us for the loss in value to that extent.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">You are only required to pay compensation for any deterioration in the item to the extent that such deterioration is attributable to handling of the item that goes beyond checking its characteristics and functionality. \u201eChecking the characteristics and functionality\u201c refers to testing and trying out the goods in question, as is possible and customary in a high street shop, for example.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Items that can be sent by post must be returned at our expense and risk.
